The Drop Band's fourth album, 'There's Only Sound', is an eclectic mix of quirky psychedelic music adding Christine Mascott's lead vocals to the normally male dominated vocal sound on previous albums. Always looking to try something new, The Drop Band explores many musical styles from straight ahead metal to blues to acoustic rock to the humorous and back again. Guitarist and Drop Band founder Paul Mascott wrote and produced this latest effort after reading a review of his first album asking to hear more of the female vocalist. The result is seven new songs and a new sound for the band.

 ANECDOTES FROM PAUL
There's Only Sound started when Christine brought me a short sketch of what later became the title tune. I took just a couple of my older songs (Dig and Baked Potato) and wrote the rest of the album around this. It was originally to be a solo project for Christine but as we got into the tracking it was obvious we had a new sound for the band.

Tell Me is actually a prototype tune for our next record and we've found a number of companies really interested in this sound, especially in Europe.

The record was recorded through the 9/11 period and we were very poor at that pont- all of the vocal tracking was done over holidays with the final session going on New Year's Eve 2001. I remember getting through the final take of Dig a few seconds before midnight and we stopped to see if the city was going to blow up. We could hear the crowd roar through the Neuman mic a dozen blocks away from times square!!
