"The
Rain Falls Now" by The Drop Band Acoustic is a psychedelic
electro-acoustic journey marked by characteristic sunshine vocal
harmonies and deep grooves driven by world percussion that gave
The Drop Band their start in 1997. From the sparkling pop sound
of "The Rain Falls Now" and "High" to the
dirty blues growls in "Red White and Blues", the record
explores the band's innovative vision of the acoustic guitar.

ANECDOTES
FROM PAUL
This record was originally started
to be a college booking demo... but of course once I got into
it, recording 4 tunes seemed too little and I pulled out a bunch
of material already written and went to it. Besides my songs,
Hank Wagner contributed "Ganja Tree" which subsequently
became a Drop Band classic.
Most interesting though is the strange collaberation I started
with NY Poet Kirk Wood Bromley, known for his verse plays in
the city. He handed me a huge pile or his earlier writing which
I took and sculpted into a whole record I called Geometrico
Destructionado which has yet to see light of day. The track
The Rain Falls Now was written around his poetry.
The other fun thing to notice on this one is that I did indeed
use all acoustic guitars (regardless of the distortion and solos)
and had Joe play Djembe and Udu,,, all hand percussion and no
cymbals. |
