The
Drop Band's third album features Paul Mascott, John Macaluso,
Ed Broms, Matt Beck, Christine Mascott and Sammy Clementine.
Called psychedelic metal, prophets features out of control jams
and grooves in an improvisational setting. The harder side of
the Drop Band is explored in this textural construction made
from open studio jams done in an overnight session in July 2000
between John and Paul. It's metal with a sense of humor.

ANECDOTES
FROM PAUL
Prophets is best understood by
picturing yourself in a room with a bunch of tripping people
all experimenting with whcked out loudness. That's pretty much
how it started. Sammy had been trying to get John and I together
for some time and it finally worked out that we could Jam overnight
at Uptime Studios, NYC. We did... and we partied... and we recorded
it... and we ended up with over 10 hours of jam tracks. Both
John and I were bleeding profusely after this session and we
had a blast.
So we took a bunch of stuff from the pro tools sessions we had
made (not even a third was used!! There are two more albums
like this sitting there) got to editing and overdubing and this
is what we experimented ourselves into.
Recently, I revisited these mixes with my newly designed SYVERB
and hipped up the whole album. It's an experiment and it has
never been my intention to make this one commercial. |
